The MCP server

Last updated 19 October 2026

The KeywordsPeopleUse MCP server lets AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol, such as Claude Desktop, run searches directly. Ask the assistant "what questions do people ask about cold brew coffee?" and it calls KeywordsPeopleUse, gets the real data, and works with it in the conversation.

The server currently exposes People Also Ask, Google Autocomplete, Reddit and Quora, and Semantic Keywords searches. Each search uses credits from your account exactly as it would in the app or the API.

What you need

  • A KeywordsPeopleUse account on a plan with API access (Lite, Standard, Pro or Unlimited), and your API key from Settings. See The API.
  • Claude Desktop, or another MCP client, with Node.js installed so it can run npx.

Setting up Claude Desktop

  1. Install Claude Desktop and follow Anthropic's MCP quickstart to locate your claude_desktop_config.json file.
  2. In KeywordsPeopleUse go to Settings › API access, click Show key and copy the key.
  3. Add this to the mcpServers section of the config file, replacing YOUR_API_KEY with your key:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keywordspeopleuse": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://mcp-keywordspeopleuse.com/sse",
        "--header",
        "Authorization:YOUR_API_KEY"
      ]
    }
  }
}
  1. Restart Claude Desktop. The KeywordsPeopleUse tools appear in the tools menu, and you can ask Claude to run searches in plain English.

The same server URL and header work with other MCP clients; consult your client's documentation for where to put the configuration.

Tips

  • Searches run through the MCP server appear in your Search History like any other search.
  • The API rate limits apply: 5 requests a minute and 1,000 a day.
  • If the assistant reports an authorisation error, re-copy your key from Settings; a rotated key invalidates the old one.

Full details are on the MCP server page.
