Locations, languages and cities

Last updated 19 October 2026

Search results differ from country to country, language to language, and even city to city. Every search in KeywordsPeopleUse has three location dropdowns so you can target the market you are writing for.

Country

All search types support 239 countries. The country decides which version of Google (or which regional Reddit and Quora results) we look at. If your audience is in the United Kingdom, pick United Kingdom even if your language is English; the questions people ask differ noticeably from the United States.

Language

  • 150 languages are available for People Also Ask, Reddit and Quora, Content Explorer and the AI Assistant (which also offers English (UK) spelling).
  • 11 languages are available for Google Autocomplete, Keyword Generator, Semantic Keywords and the keyword-search clustering workflow: English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.

City

The third dropdown lets you pick a city within the chosen country. Start typing to filter the list.

City targeting changes the actual Google results for:

  • People Also Ask, both standard and Deep Search.
  • Keyword Clustering search workflows.
  • Search Alerts for those types.

For Google Autocomplete, Reddit and Quora, Semantic Keywords and Content Explorer, Google does not vary results by city, so the city you choose is recorded with the search in your history but does not alter what comes back. Bulk Search ignores the city.

Setting your defaults

The first time you log in, the setup wizard asks for your default country, language and city. These are pre-selected on every new search. You can skip the wizard and the defaults fall back to English, United States. See Creating your account.

From the API

Pass hl for the language code, gl for the country code and city for a city name. See The API.
